THE coronavirus death toll in Ireland rose to 1,547 this evening after four more deaths were announced tonight.
This marked the lowest number of deaths recorded in Ireland since March 27 – almost seven weeks ago.
There were 88 new cases of the disease also confirmed tonight – bringing the total number of cases to 24,200.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan also confirmed that health officials were considering adding anosmia to the list of Covid-19 symptoms.
Anosmia is the medical term for the loss of taste and smell.
Phase one of the country’s five phase exit plan was triggered this morning.
